TCA supports School Finance Research Collaborative effort to level playing field for all Michigan students
LANSING — The following is a statement from Tri-County Alliance Executive Board President and Superintendent of Farmington Public Schools, Dr. George Heitsch, on the groundbreaking study released today by the School Finance Research Collaborative.
“The Tri-County Alliance is proud to join other education professionals and business leaders from across Michigan in releasing a groundbreaking report on what it truly costs to educate a student in Michigan. The study, spearheaded by the School Finance Research Collaborative, is the most comprehensive data to-date on the cost of educating our children regardless of where they live or their educational needs, and it is our hope the Legislature, Gov. Rick Snyder and future policymakers will use this information to shape the education landscape in Michigan for decades to come.”
The Tri-County Alliance for Public Education is a coalition of education leaders committed to fighting for strong K-12 schools across Michigan. Comprised of Superintendents from every district in Macomb, Oakland and Wayne counties, they are collectively responsible for educating nearly 600,000 students (approximately 40 percent of the statewide K-12 population).
