K-12 Alliance of Michigan Responds to Education Budget Proposed by House K-12 Appropriations Committee

LANSING, Mich., April 27, 2023 — The K-12 Alliance of Michigan today released the following statement from Executive Director Robert McCann in response to the education budget proposed by the House K-12 Appropriations Committee.

“I’d like to thank Representative Weiss and the entire subcommittee for putting together a budget that takes significant steps towards targeting funding to where schools need it most. We’ve stated for years that the time for simply adding money to the per-pupil allotment is long past and we need budgets that more directly reflect the real costs our schools face. This budget does that. Along with the Senate budget introduced yesterday, we now have two strong budgets in front of us and we look forward to working with leaders in both chambers to create a final budget that takes the best from both of them in order to make the investments in our public schools that are long overdue.”
